Sorry, its not a landy question.....
I'm using a Mondeo (05 model) tomorrow for a business trip nd they key fob is confusing me, I'm not used to cars with funny electrical gizmos!!
On the fob there are three buttons
-one opens boot, easy enough
-one of an open padlock
-one of a closed padlock with half an open padlock
as far as I can tell both padlock buttons lock and unlcok the doors with a blip and flash of the lights, whats the difference????
-
Is one to unlock just the drivers door and the other to unlock all ?
-
Generally speaking with this sort of fob the one for the boot is obvious, it opens the boot without having to open the rest of the car ie when out shopping..........the one of the padlock if you press twice in quick succession it should dead lock the car.......the other is just to lock the car as you would normally do and unlock it :D I could be wrong but we do have a mundano although slightly older model. Hope I am right!
-
i think the second button pressed once unlocks the driver door then pressed again opens the rest of it
do something wacky and have a play in the morning! ;)

The locked/half unlocked one will lock all doors, and only unlock the drivers, the full unlocked padlock will unlock all doors on the car.
Golf's are similar one press to unlock just the drivers, two to unlock everything.

mine is fun
two buttons on it (its a cobra btw)
one button unlocks and locks
the other is the panic alarm
didnt tell the missus in the car park
oh it was funny ;)

Johnty has a toad that does something similar to that........ I think I accidently set it off one day and had a little panic

open padlock - opens car
boot button - as you said
closed/half closed padlock - one click locks the car but doesn't enable the interior sensors (for if you leave dogs/small children in the car)
Second click of this button deadlocks the car and switches the full alarm on.

As vtrdaz says.
You might also find that if you keep your finger on the lock button any windows that have been left open will close.
