Title: Td5 rear diff pinion oil seal
Post by: Jimbo on May 24, 2006, 19:36:43
The rear diff pinion seal on the Disco is leaking a bit (where the prop bolts on), I'm guessing that the seal needs to be replaced - has anyone done this themself ? (Td5 Disco)

According to RAVE you need 3 special tools, one to remove the 'centralising peg' from the flange (having first unbolted the prop and shoved it out of harms way), a second tool is used to lock the flange whilst you undo the big nut, and a third tool to bosh the new seal in. It's the first tool that has me confused - what does it do, just pull the centralising peg out of the middle of the flange ???, the refitting instructions say to use a tubular drift to refit the 'centralising peg', so I'm guessing that the removal tool can't be that complex - what else could I use ?

Ahhhhh, so you just 'pull' the peg straight off and there's the flange bolt !

Cheers Mikey
