i found asda insurnace pretty good, they were cheapest by miles when i was getting insurance for the first time (17 year old boy isn't cheap from anywhere tho :( )
-
NFU did me proud....very very very cheap for an 18 year old :o :D :D

on a landy  any quotes i got for me on a landy (only dreaming as i don't have one and there was no way i could have got one) was over £2000, even when i was down as a named driver on my parents insurance it still would have been £1500.
-
NFU refused to quote me last year, cos i was justy under 25 and they don accept new business from anyone under 25, only if you already use them or have family who do!
I doubt they would have beaten admiral who insure me and the other half on my 90 td5 csw for just over £320/year, however i do have 6+ yrs ncb :)
-
i found adrian flux the best for mine but it is on a limited milage classic policy - it was £400 and im only 19 so didnt think it was too bad!

NFU
Greenlight
Asda
all are worth trying. Plus you get a Greenlight discount for being an M-C Member
-
Aidrian Flux for me, £300 (including 10% Disco owners club discount)
Fully comp including offroad use (non competitive)
my only annoyance with them is the £15-25 "processing fee" everytime you change your details (address, modifications to vehicle etc)
I've never needed to claim (touch wood) so I can't comment on tehir handling of claims.

I didn't think you could legally be insured on any engine above 3l capacity until you were 21. especially at that price.
Mind you the prices are insurance based an i live near(ish) to london and right next to the medway towns which is even worse which i probably why it was so much
I need to move to the countryside,
I need to move to the countryside,
I need to move to the countryside,
I need to move to the countryside,
Etc. Etc.

If you have the money you can legally insure anything you like at any age as long as you can drive it!
Its not unherd of quotes in the region of 20K+ for yuppies with porsches and ferrari's @ 17/18 yrs old.

Just had a quote from Adrian Flux - £225 F/C for my Discovery, including the non-standard modifications - looks like they could get my business this year .
Pssst:- I've got 10 years on you BTM

It'll be interesting to see how much the 110 is on renewal, as they insured it for the same amount

Where as tescos did not understand wot mods i had done and would not offer greenlane insurance     basically with tescos if the "computer says NO" then they dont understand

Insurance update
I am insuring my discovery
Driver + spouse age 41and 40
Full UK licences both 20years +
No convictions disabilities etc
6 years no claims
No mods on vehicles but would like to fit steering and tank guard, rock sliders (not exactly performance enhancing
dearest quote Lancaster: £3011.72
Others:
Sure term £700 +
Adrian flux £458
Firebond £385.85
Greenlight unable to insure me because I do 10,000 miles a year and don’t have another car, disco needs to be a second car (motorbike will not do)
Roadsure unable to insure me because the vehicle is parked on the street
Snowball waiting a reply £389.89 mods allowed
Cheapest Lancaster (through confused.com) £208
will give lancasater a ring tonight and see if they allow mods and greenlanes

Im 50, have a million years NCB. Clean licence and No accidents since I was 18.
Direct Swine charge me £380 a year together with recovery.
I'm shoppng around so thanks for starting this thread and answering it.
-
well i finally got insurance with Lancaster £208 fully comp paid monthly
not 100% happy
there is an issue with greenlaning and offfroadingas they wont cover it
if i wanted insurance to cover greenlanes and offroad days it was more than double the price
as for the mods
did you know if tow bar is not factory fitted its a modification
as its not a performance enhancing mod it seems its ok
Oh and i told her i had a steering gaurd thats ok as well as long as they have been told
so if you have diff guards side steps or anything else that you havent declaired be warned
NOTE TO SELF
start saving for nice southdown type towbar/tank gaurd
and a steering gaurd
so if you see a disco in blackpool with shiney bits on its prob mine

if i wanted offroad insurance it came in at about £480 [-X [-X [-X [-X [-X
thats a lot a cash
-
My insurance went up by £35 just for having steering guard and snorkel fitted. If it wasnt fitted by the factory fitted its extra.
-
Right see if I can get this right
I'm hurtling towards 50
I now have 3 vehicles on the go
A disco 1 stretched but pretty standard with a chassis mounted winch, I paid last Sept £250 fc with Liverpool vic (it went from 235 on the previous year)
Second is a hybrid l/w with a 300tdi engine & auto box out of a disco, this is a classic alongside using the fact that I have the above vehicle as well, this was £160 fc with Greenlight
I also have an 05 Vauxhall Meriva 1.7 diesel, for running my father around which I had to insure up a couple of months ago, this was a laugh, I couldn't use any noclaims of my disco policy, so the quotes started at 700 quic, cause I didn't have any no claims, only wanted a 5000 miles a year policy on this one too
After some phoning around I found a company that insured me for £283, they took into account the other vehicles I have and the fact on it being a limited mileage vehicle and my age & driving history
Also I think they will get a ring back when the disco policy runs out in September, they quoted me 235 for that which was how much I payed 04-05 policy for.
I have max n/claims and one sp30.
The company was Hyperformance, was well impressed
0800 458 1620
They have good reports on younger drivers as well
Worth a ring, as I think they do finance agreements for the bigger premiums
-
I'm paying £428 fully comp on my series 3!
Im 19 with 3 points!!
Now thats a good price!
-
.........there is an issue with greenlaning and offfroadingas they wont cover it

That's odd Lancaster gave me full off road and green lane cover as standard when i took out my policy with them.
I'm 21 no accidents or convictions, one years NCB and all mods declared I'm paying £300 although i did have enough time to play them off against Adrian Flux.
The policy has limit it to 15000 miles a year but there's no way I'd do sort of mileage in the landy
-
Try Firebond, :D
They are excellent. I have just insured my vehicle for the 2nd year and the payment went down :D . I told them about my modifications that I had done over the last twelve months ( Bigger wheels and mud tyres, snortle, diff guards, tree sliders etc) and they gave me a lower quote as I upped my access. I also agreed to a limited mileage at 12,000 a year. Net Premium £156.25. But I well over 21 and its not my only mode of transport.
They are well worth trying - contact details Telephone no 0870 111 0457 or visit the web site at www.firebond.co.uk
Good Luck
