Post by: Niel on May 29, 2006, 17:10:31
Starter on my 200 TDi is spinning before engaging, had it off and apart, not sticking and throws OK, but is spinning to early, Valeo french crap doesn't have an adjustable pivot, so looking for ideas/replacement.

I have the same problem.  If all else fails turn it off and back on but don't wait for the glowplugs.  Mine works fine after that.

Having had to bump start the monster for two days I went to my local independant and bought a new starter, prestolite IIRC, and not having the stupid offset body the Valeo had I could do it all from above without removing the manifolds!!!
Even with a little cooling time 90 mins after arriving home it 'd been fitted...Now the fuel gauge is playing up, land-rovers eh?
