only noticed when i was in the middle of wales  .... on a beach  that oil was absolutly P****** out from the drain hole in the timing case (200tdi)
so thought, right 2 options..it either gets me 5 mile off the beach and i dump it in the field and hitch a lift back with my grandad or sod it and drive it home :? ended up driving it home :P and it got me home...oil everywhere like but owells
now i thing its gonna be the crank seal
but i since foud out my grandad checked the oil in the week and it was low and needed some in  so i went out and dipped it and it was wayyyyyy over the full mark like inch n half above, now what im woundering is could the extra oil have pushed the seal out of its seat ? as the landy has spent most of the weekend at some sort of stupid angle rock crawling on the beach?
iv never known it to happen but is it possable?

I imagine the massive oil pressure increase could have popped the seal, but i aint a mechanic  . Someone will answer your question correctly pretty soon.
I'm coming down to Stoke this weekend, so if you see Trug cruising about on sat in Kidsgrove/Burslem or hanley give us a wave.

Will be arriving sat am. leaving sun pm., i'll actually be in small thorne "croft court" most of the day sunday, doin some plumbing. I used to go to the vale club in my late teenage years, used to get well drunk. Spent most of my wages in the red lion a few times too.
No doubt my brother and sister will be dragging me out on the town saturday night  .
Cant wait to get a supply of oatcakes :D :D :D .

How did you get on with your leak?
I've got a 300tdi leaking (not pi**** oil ) out of the same place.
The only good thing is there's no rust down there now!
-
Slightly off-topic but where in wales were you rock crawling on a beach?

it will be the rear crankshaft oil seal in the front casing which seperates the oil pump from the timing case & belt, advisable to get it fixed sharpish as it can contaminate the belt n make it break

Thanks for cheering me up!
General question for anyone in the Cheshire area,
Does anyone know of a good independent LR garage around the N.Cheshire/Merseyside area.
The LR Workshop has changed hands, & not sure they're up to such a job at the moment!
Any Suggestions? [-o<
Leak fixed to-day!
Courtesy of RWB Motors (Warrington)
Even changed the bottom pulley, which could've caused the belt to fail at a later date-Top Blokes! =D>
