Just been outside and noticed 4 of the 5 nuts (including the locking one) were missing from one of my wheels and the only time I can think it could have happened is at billing last w/e whilst on the MUD CLUB stand, so for the 10 seconds it will take please CHECK YOUR NUTS or it could be painful

OK, that's scary..
the only time they could have done that was at night, and we weren't all that far away.
IMHO the security at Billing needs to be addressed otherwise attending the place might end up being a liability rather than a holiday :?
-
it really puts you off going or taking your pride and joy though when this is going on...
its going to occur when anything taken off site will have to prove you've bought it there
i dont attend that many shows.. does this occur at everyone?
-
ish, but not this badly usually
Allisport lost a laptop at driffield and other things like that going on, but it would appear that there is now, and has been for a couple of years a gang of people going to billing with the sole intent on walking away with as much as possible.
What sickens me is that the "security" at the show has gotten noticably worse, not so much in terms of presence but in general attitude and entheusiasm (they appear to have given up) and that this means that it is someone who is likely a land rover owner too..
I reckon we bring back hanging and castration.

I reckon we bring back hanging and castration.
It's more effective if you do it the other way round.
-
If you are down to one nut i downt think you could have made it back from Billing he say's heading out the door to check his nut's
DM

Idea for a new Mud Club sticker"THIS IS MY PRIDE AND JOY,YOU TAKE BITS FROM MY PRIDE AND I'LL TAKE YOUR BITS AND YOUR JOY"please feel free to improve on this.

Nice one Pete, like it
On a more serious note those with caravans can at least lock up when strolling aroung the show, us with tents have to rely on the fact that your camping at show with like minded people, there for the show and vehicles not out to steal
-
It's even worse for those of us with tents and soft tops...
I've pretty much given up on door locks - what's the point when you can just untie the canvas...
Cheers

Baweeeee! Grunk Grunk, Burble, My old man's a mushroom etc.
Yup, I've checked, I'm nuts :)
-
This is just a thought but for those of us that attend shows with the Mud-Club and where we are camped in a group would it be an idea that we took it in turns to keep watch on the stand tents etc. Its just a thought.....
-
Nuts check and all intacked! thanks for asking
Most of the time the stand is well attended, at worst there is always one person left to keep an eye on things. But maybe more attention needs to be on the camping area and the motors, especially at night?

I think they might have been trying to take the wheels, they tend not to come off when still bolted to the vehicle.

Yes, security was poor. On the Thursday night, the generator was lifted from the muddyweb stand. Not an easy thing to do, as it was rather large. You could see the tracks, across the grass, where it had been wheeled away. Another went from somewhere else the same night. Tim and Joanne worked their sock's off for nothing that weekend. Next year I'll be taking my dogs. What gets me, is that on Sunday night, the security patrols were in evidence all night. Yes, camping in groups, taking turns to stand guard, looks like the thing to do.

IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE AS MUCH AS I VALUE THIS CAR ..
DON'T F**K WITH IT!!!!
Sounds about right
ps why not try spraying all the cars with that stuff group 4 used in their cash boxes it is invisialbe to the naked eye but under uv light it lights up bright purple . That way you could have a few bears then go on a walk around the sight one person with a lamp and ten with baseball bats :D
Nicking wheel nuts should be attempted murder!!! :x
-
Was it an attempt at theft or an attempt at sabotage.
We'll never know.

with any luck the 90 will be at Billing next year, although I'm seriously contemplating taking Ben's approach and just turning up early in the AM and going home.
LRE *need* to address the security problems at Billing otherwise the show will get killed. I know they shouldn't have to, and all the other arguments. But at the end of the day the traders are loosing thousands of pounds worth of stock, and that which they manage to sell is being lifted from the hands of the purchases as well. It won't take long till the companies simply cannot afford to write off those losses, and if the punters stop spending money for fear of things going walkies it's not going to help either.
The attitude of the security staff they did have was a bit lapse as well, I noticed that the LRE tent had some body walking round the outside of it all evening, not convinced he was there to stop any of the other traders being robbed though.
BF Goodrich had to hire their own guards.. I mean, come on... a trade stand *has* to hire extra security staff ? Shamefull whichever way you look at it.
