Title: Intermitant wiper switch

Heres the problem.

On the 90 (1993) there is a proper intermitant wiper position where as on the 110 (1983) there is only a pulse switch i.e. knock the switch down and it operates once.

To put a proper intermitant on the 110 is it as simple as fitting a new switch assembly or does the wiper motor have to come out as well?

I've been pondering on that 1 as well.

I'm sure I've seen an aftermarket doohinkey that you can fit which is just a timer.  I think all you do is fit a switch on the dash to which you flick on for the intermittent or i suppose you could fit the later wiper control stalk to do the same job (if it will fit).  

All the doohinkey does is pulse the signal to the motor (however often you set it to).  
If it doesn't exist, it would be a very easy (and cheap) electronic circuit to build.

I can't see any reason why the motor would have to be replaced.

These are a lot less hassle for what they do, but yes normally you would have to have the park circuit working on the wiper motor for them to work properly as they just pulse the circuit into action, although you will already know if its not as you will have to switch the wipers off when they are at the bottom of the screen

You can make your own quite easily although maplin kit price is pretty good imho.  

To make your own you can have intermittant or variable intermittant
You need a relay from a car with delayed wipers and if using variable the pot (dash timing wheel).  Connect the realy in the normal fashion connecting switched live to the wiper live, connect switched live to your master intermitant on off switch, then the 5th wire goes to the pot and then to earth.  If you switch the wipers on then it will just go into normal mode.

I've never actually got around to doing it in the 90 as there are always too many other jobs to do!
