Title: Measurement conversion
Post by: MTyrrell on June 06, 2006, 00:19:42
I made a start  the long overdue head gasket change on the 110 today, got it all stripped down and measured the distance the pistons protrude from the block, as the gasket didn’t have any holes punched in it to give any clue as to its thickness.

The highest I measured across all pistons was 25 thou.

What I need to know is how many thou are there in a millimetres. I can’t find a conversion table anywhere.

Cheers
Matt

25 thou = 0.635mm  :D

Have a look at Online Conversions (http://www.onlineconversion.com/length_all.htm), scroll down & you'll find "Thou" for one and "millimeter" for the other.

Mmmmm

well there's 25.4mm in an inch so I 'spose 25.4/1000 = 0.0254mm = 1 thou

 Conversion chart here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conversion_of_units#Length)

Bear in mind the metric units are in metres though
