Title: Heater Switch
Post by: doctorvaltar on June 06, 2006, 01:06:05
On my stinky expensive 90 I'm rebuilding I have come across an irritating feature, thought I'd ask you chaps if you had any experience with it.

I have no slow speed fan, the heater fan switch seems to be ok (it's an early 90 so fairly basic) Have swapped the wires over (just in case I put them on wrong), cleaned the terminals on the switch, checked the conections etc etc, could it be motor, or the wiring inside the big black fan box??

Any pointers greatly appreciated?

If the wiring is correct then it sounds like the ballast resistor has given up.
I don't think they are sold as separate part by LR so you either need to get hold of a complete new switch/lever assembly or have a look on Ebay as there is a chap on there who sells an aftermarket repair kit.

You could look round for a standard one, most vehicles have them, and a trawl round the scrappy would probably be more fun

I have an ex rangy unit powering a heater that came out of a minibus, for the hybrid, works perfect
