Right quick question,
This morning on my way to work while turning right I heard what sounded like a 'rumble' coming from the n/s/f wheel, jacked it up just & there is quite a lot of play in the bearing,
Question is can they be ajusted & if so how ?,
oh btw I have 265/70x16 greenway anoconda's on so they do try to grip on corners,

You can adjust the play out of them but that depends on your school of thought.
Has it worked loose because it's not been adjusted correctly in the 1st place?
Has it worked loose because it's worn?
Has it worked loose because there's no grease in there and you're grinding them away?
My honest opinion is if you know when it was last changed and it's not been too long ago then re-pack with grease and adjust...
Otherwise if you've no idea then simply replace the bearings and the seals, it's not too expensive and it'll save you time in the long run.

Island 4x4 on e.bay do the full axle kit for about 13 quid, thats 4 bearings, oil seals and gaskets.

they can be adjusted by removing the cap on the outside, then remove the lock nut and tighten the nut behind it, you are probably better to change it ,have you checked the cv joint as well

Thanks guy's, have used island 4x4 before good & cheap, will try to get to it over the weekend but as my dad's coming over for the week so may be a bit tricky to get the spanners out, does sound like a cv sort of knock now you mention it, will let you know when it's pulled apart :roll: ,

let me know ive just been through this saga, my disco is a J plate and it seems the previous owner didn't have a clue about maintance, ive only had it 6 months and ive replaced
2 wheel bearings
swivel and its bearings
stub axle
steering box
ignition lock
u.j
and this afternoon im changing the track rod ends
