How about a V8 90 with a LSD in the rear and a series transfer box in it so you can bop it into rwd.
Alternatively try that Shuler Tfer box you had. I can drift the Discovery nicely under a little provocation.
In fact one of the beat bits of drifting I have experienced is with George MacLay in his old 2.5 4cyl hybrid. 45 degrees all the way round a roundabout in the wet on SATS on Mudmaster!

if you wanna see proper drifting
www.driftworks.com
saw them do a demo in castle combe circuit
awesome (in a silvia aka 200sx)
also google search for kumho tyres as they do tyres which can smoke different colours when doing burnouts or drifting
vvv cool! (and expensive!)
