Title: cambelt question
Post by: Dr Neil on June 11, 2006, 22:32:12
can anyone tell me if there is any diferences between the 200 and 300 tdi's when it comes to changing the timing belt?
I can see you don't need to disturb the waterpump but is the timing of the engines the same and the tensioning of the belt? I have a landrover workshop manual for the 200tdi but wondered what the differences were.

thanks in advance

300tdi is easier, but you must check to see if the modified pulley's have been fitted. Book time is about an hour less to change a 300 and you can do it without removing the radiator.

Howdy,

Have changed mine, but the specialist here mentioned that a pulley change was not nescesary  - only if there was an issue with the belt. He inspects the belt being taken off and if there is any sign of the belt not running 'true' then a pullet change may be required. I have done 3 now and have not had to change the pulleys on any of them.

Anyone want to comment?
