Ford Rangers
I know I'm probobly gonna get a slapping for posting it here but strikes me as the best place to ask, so sorry mr mod if it needs to be moved.
I can easilly raise the deposit on a nice 06 Ranger Thunder Supercab if I sell both cars. I've driven a Ranger before but not had it off road (My usual choice of hire veichle in Canada)
What do we think of them? Any good offroad? Can I get all the bit I need to mod it properly?
Anyone have one (Or the Mazda version)

We've used them for years on the British Off Road Championship as our set up/safety cars.
Very capable and reliable.
In terms of modding, I think there's a bit available, but alot of it will be import stuff. Normal restrictions with independent front suspension and light back ends (pick ups) apply.

As Clarkson once said about the Ranger. "Americans get a Dodge Ram with an 8.0 V10, and we get this."
Not really helpful, but funny none the less. I would recommend an L200 but the new design is awful so the Ranger looks alright. Also try Nissan Navara.

I have used a ford ranger in a very hot climate with lots of sand before and we abused the crap out of we kicked the windows out of etc etc so it was exposed to the elimintes it was ok stood up to all we gave it

we have an 04 thunder double cab at work, good for towing but is hellish thirsty on juice.
general driving i find it uncomfortable and the gears too low for any sustained motorway use seems quite capable offroad though which surprised me.
service wise its every 6000 miles unless ford have lengthened the intervals now and the ford dealers round us aint much use, front torsion link suspension is very clunky and noisy and bumps stops fall off every 5 mins ( a known problem according to one ford mechanic in the dealer) and rear axle is just becoming very noisy

Its an 07 (by the time I get round to it) Thunder that I'm looking at. The 2wd one I had last time was a nice car but rwd only with no weight in the back made i an interesting drive.
Someone else has mentioned an Navara so will be looking at them too. theres a few 04's etc on Autotrader for significantly less than a new one.
That said Bunnie wants a SWB and I'm not allowed to sell the Audi so.... :S

Needed a bit of 'help' to get over the steps and apart from a long back end, this one was actually quite capable on the lanes the other week.

I Did wonder and stopped quite quickly because I didnt like the answer :)
Yes, Mazda trucks are the same. That overhang on the back is bothering me though.
