Very easy to remove and fit, thanks to cordless impact driver that has paid for itself many times over. I even already had all of the correct bolts and nuts, which makes a change ;) ;) Used existing rear gasket and front has a built in rolled section that makes the seal.
No more hitting the centre section on ramp overs.

Took about 30mins including finding nuts and bolts :)

Any noticable improvement in performance ?

OOh looks good, definatly interested in a link to the seller if they do it "commercially" as i'd like one of them on the 90 :)
As above, any change in performance?
-
Forgive my igonorance, what does this replace? A silencer box? Is it any nosier?

Haven't really noticed any improvement, there may be but it's not noticeable.
It's slightly louder but not as much as I thought it might be which is a good thing. I wondered whether it would drone at motorway speeds, but it doesn't so again that's good.
It replaces the large centre mid box, which sits below chassis rails and takes a few knocks off-road hence my reason for changing it out. I still have the small rear box.
I think the chap off ebay bought it to fit to his 90, never did and then sold the 90. So no repeat purchases which is a shame at that price :)
Cheers

I know Allisport sells these....

Along with a few other people.
Depending on the year of your car.... also worth fitting a non-CAT front pipe (well non particulate filter). Will make a bit of difference as a CAT pipe is quite restrictive.

Whats the year for cat removals ?
-
On a diesel (compression ignition) you don't need a CAT what ever the year of production... all you have to do is pass a smoke test, which a CAT (or particulate filter) doesn't really affect.
Petrol engines (spark ignition) are different though...
The catalyst test is part of the MOT test for most class IV spark ignition petrol engined passenger cars with four or more wheels first used on and after 1 August 1992.

took the cat off my 300 tdi 90 the other week - much better low down torque, pulls noticably much better from low revs - recommended
