last time my oil presure light came on I ended up with a con-rod through the block.

ooohh eerr mrs's, now I don't want that happening, but in the mean time it only does it after a swim !?!?!?

im sure there is a ver y good explaination im just a pesamist!!

Oil lights are rarely good news, by the time most light damage has usually been done!
However, your swimming exploits to me suggest something electrical rather than oil pressure based, but I can't be sure. I suggest you do some wiring investigation!
Sorry not to be of more help!

Could be something as simple as the water shorting out the wire to the pressure switch
Fit a capilliary tube pressure gauge, one less electrical thing to go wrong

...right oh, now...how and where do I fit this tube thingymawatsit?....and where do I get one from....cheers...Robbo

You can buy a oil pressure gauge kit from most motor factors, they have electronic and capilliary units
They either replace the sender unit or with a t piece to keep the switch in line as well
The only thing you may have to buy an adaptor piece for the right threads to match up, I know on the disco 200tdi, I have just fitted one replacing the sender switch unit, and luckily the threads were right
Fitting is straight forward just follow the instructions, if you like electrics you can hook a feed in from the sidelight for illumination of the dial at night
