No need to join the farmers organisation, just phone them and get your quote :D

Just seen an advert on TV for "Hastings Direct"..... theyre advertising being the cheapest insurers for 2004/2005.

I'm insured with NFU for the works ex mod 90, but went to "Budget insurance" for Trug.

Adrian flux, nothing too much trouble for them, cheapish too.  Got really p***ed off with firebrand this year so that's well over a grand I won't be spending with them!

This cheer you up,

quote last year was £806.13 this year £1374.16.

went to Confused.com to see if I can get a better quote and just one was brave enough to quote

COMPANY       PRICE  APPROX
EXCESS  LEGAL
COVER  COURTESY CAR  PAY MONTHLY
(subject to credit policy)
Endsleigh    Ã‚£1750.07   £150  included  included  1x £350.01 + 11x £144.75

and the mob I'm with now - Lancaster Insurance   " insurer unable to quote for your details"   whats that about.

You got 27 points or something (I know it's impossible)

NFU are Insuring my dad (50 odd, about the same NCB) for £80.86 and are promising to add me for only £206 extra!!! Fantastic pricing!

Just got a call from Endsleigh who quoted on confused, they wanted to see if they could give me a better deal taking more details.

No they couldn't  and just to give you an idea of the stupid execces asked by some insurance they wanted £450 towards any claim.

The poor bloke, I dont think he understood why I was laughing when he told me that.

Probably something to do with 'claims history' I would think    ... mine has nearly doubled this year due to a couple of momentary lapses of concentration

ok , confused .com only turned up 1 quote as disco is not standard only a 50mm lift but that was enough to shy most insurers away. the 1 quote was £450 that was dearer than my renewal quote with elephant at £435.
but went with adrian flux @ £350 fully comp, thanx for all your help

Did anyone go with Lancaster insurance through Confused.com in the end?

I'm in the process of searching for quotes, and they're some £70 cheaper, but I noticed cover for Off-Road and Greenlane use is "EXCLUDED".

They're quoting £237.75 Vs. £310 on my renewal.

More digging needed I think.

yes i went with them in the end  about £240 fully comp
not ideal though as the insurance doesnt cover greenlanes and off roading
but exactly what is a greenlane?????
they did offer an alternative that included greenlanes and off roading but it was over £400

Problem is, most of my play-time is off-road on private land.  I only use the lanes if they're in between the land I need to get to.

Hmm £237 Vs £300+ - Don't know if I should take the chance.

How does an insurance company exclude a legal right of way from their cover. What is their definition of a green lane? I'd be interested to see what they come up with.

It's comparable to offering cover that excludes motorway driving which I would expect to be illegal as motor cover must surely meet some minimum requirements such as TP cover on all legal ROW.
