go easy i paid more than i wanted to but thought it might be worth going for the TDI over a TD

Nice one Mik :D
First thing to go for is a decent set of mud tyres. That way you can enjoy a bit of off roadin' while you save up for the rest!!!

which part of pembs are you?
wood park offroad near new moat is quite known to some people on here and its a stone's throw from my folks!

If you don't know the history of the vehicle can I suggest you start by giving it a bit of a service! Change all the fluids (engine gearbox, diffs etc), I did'nt and pretty soon regretted it. It seems like a pain in the arse, but if you have limited knowledge of a LR (like me), it gives you a good opportunity to poke around and see whats where.
Once you are happy with that, the skys the limit..................(sorry its not a chitty!)
-
Another 300tdi :D . Well done matey/
Yeah, i agree with Snezza.....fluids/lubricants 1st :D .
I then went for respray/suspension lift & timing belt (just incase).
Then started on under body armour and waxoyle.
Then Mud terrain tyres.
My gallery has a few pics from when i 1st got my 90 (in the beginning).

2. checker plate
3. big spots (lights)

first thing is a proper service, followed by a good looking at to determine what parts need changing to make it right.
then start on extras :D
-
TRUG: could be a 200tdi (best engine ever )
defo made the right choice for a tdi over a Td
-
ye it's a 200 tdi sorry should have made that clear

First Job has to be Good M/T tyres 235/85 or 265/75 depending on preferance.
A damned good rope, shackles and a high lift. Strong Recovery points.
Then diff guards and maybe a steering guard (i have bent the steering twice with the guard on so maybe sumo bars if you have the money)
Leave the lift as you may not need one, Defenders go a long way offroad anyway.
Then go play and see how much more you think you require.
-
Tyres if the current ones aren't good AT at least.
CB!
Diff guards
That's all you need to get out there and use it
Strops/recovery points, for when yolu use it too enthusiastically
Sill and steering guards as funds allow
Lamps, do you off road at night then? if not just get those polycarbonate headlamps with the bulbs for now. £30 from a place in Bolton.
Stickers
Performance upgrade like an intercooler. Start with a good clean around the current one though.
Suspension lift, budget on £800 to do it properly, springs and dampers, castor correction, TD5 prop, bump stops and brake lines.
As a start you really nee to service it though!
