I spent my lunch hour driving around local trading estates in search of a burger van for nice greasy sausage bacon and egg batch for lunch.
I used to know where they all were and at what time they moved on as I often stopped off for lunch when I was out in the van, but we have a canteen where I work now so never ventured out lunch before.
Now they have all gone! There were four that I knew of three have gone completely and the other now leaves his pitch at 11 to get the lunch trade else where.
Is it seams the burger van and road side cafe are in decline nowadays :(

I wonder if it would be a feasible idea for all members who use some form of sat-nav to mark such places as POI and share the files?
I must admit there is nothing worse than being in a strange part of the country and the quest for food leading me under the golden arches instead of a layby with real food and drinkable coffee.
I can convert between all major POI file formats eg tomtom, autoroute etc

if you were looking for a good fry-up go to lymm services
its a truck stop and its a pick and choose type.
good value and good for the arteries
but failing that if you are one who would use truckstops and cafes a bit i would suggest you buy the truckstop guide from amazon
its bout a fiver i think
v handy and fits in the glove box

Have a plough through our very own 'Food Forum', you may find what you're looking for
There's a damn good long established one on the A628 (Woodhead Pass), it's called 'Vals' & is listedhere (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=4552)
Grindleford Station Cafe is also good, but possibly not the approach road to take a truck down??

I used to own and run one..
the trouble is you have to get a good pitch and this means allot of pennys..like from £3000 to 25000 plus..
unless you go road side and that can get nasty if you pitch on somone elses pitch
Their is loads of mi=oney to be made if you dont mind getting up at 4.00 in the morning to set up.. and come home reeking of fried food..
Say an average burger will cost about 20 p to make up ..do the sums and and think when you payed for one last??
You have to go to sit exam for basic H and Saftey course and have to get insurance in case you make somone ill ..god forbid...
But its not easy work ..i am after another one now as the misses is going to run it in the day..
