Title: water flow direction
Post by: grunty on July 02, 2006, 20:15:29
Can someone confirm the direction of flow in a 200 tdi engine please..

I guess it gets hot then goes up to the stat, were it bypasses and goes to the heater, this is the pipe I need to know about, it goes round the heater and then is returned to the rear of the head.

Is this correct or is it the other way round?

I need to take a hot water pipe to a heat exchanger so need the hottest pipe  :)  :)

cheers
Alan

The 200tdi disco, pipe from the pump, through a rigid pipe across the top of the engine then through into the heater unit at the top

The bottom pipe comes from the heater to the cylinder head

As already said hot flows in at the top and back out of the bottom

Got a couple of pics if needed

Cheers all,
thats what I reckoned but on this one there isnt a top or bottom :?
both pipes are on the head and both pipes are on the top of the heater

Have connected it all using this way round so it now comes from the base of the stat to my heat exchanger then to a heated filter and then the heater back to the rear of the head.
Should be ok
 :)

cheers again
