Title: Exhausting stuff.....
Post by: Porny on July 09, 2006, 18:58:56
Got my 90 back from Chris at www.exactfabrication.co.uk on Friday...

Has now got a full stainless 2.5" side exit exhaust, and unlike most other custom exhaust places it is fully TIG welded (very well!!!) and not just MIG'd.  (and is a higher than normal grade stainless)

Whilst not overly load, the exhaust note is quite cheeky   but not too intrusive.

I can not rate Chris enough... the standard of the work is 110% (as was the service) and as with any good product, the quality is in the detail - like the use of stainless steel fixings, the quick release mounting etc etc.  He even makes the silencer from scratch!

You would need to speak to Chris, as this was the first proper one he'd made - but he's now got all the jig's/templates etc to make some more.

Mine was slighty cheaper as he used it as a test car... he actually had my 90 for two weeks as I was on holiday.

I am well chuffed though  :D

I keep meaning to pop in on him, especially as he's just down the road.

From the looks of it he makes some nice kit . . . .

Ian,

Nice.

That looks like an X-Eng brake conversion you got there - pleased with it ?

Yes..... in theory... but then it is only soot and washes off easily.  On a standard, untweaked, LR the soot shouldn't be too bad.... get's worse when you 'adjust' the pump though.

Fuel tank on the other side   .... plus a tank that size wouldn't get me very far with my right foot    :D

Is a square silencer, an idea of Chris's... seems to work well, is different from anything else on the market, and results in a neat installation.

Well spotted.... yep.... very happy.  Fit and forget.
It's design means you have to use a pre 300Tdi type handbrake cable, which really means you need a pre 300Tdi handbrake lever too.
You can use a 300Tdi or Td5 type lever, but I found it worked better with a pre 300Tdi one.
