Title: Tyre's

I'm now considering the tyre size for my project, want some big boots on it,, 33" or 35", do I have to buy off set rims, currently sitting on 235's on grey modular's.

Any advise please. I don't mind cutting the arches,,..

Ooops ,, its on a Disco,, building a bobtail pickup see gallery. :lol:

Yes...........i have mach 5s on my disco with a 3 1/2" off set and they did catch the front radius arms on full lock.........thats with 265/75/16's (31 ish) so i would say that you will definatly need off set rims or spacers.

Yes, what's this cr4p about they have only just become avainlable in the uk? They have been available for years already, they just arn't as cheap as BFG at 'mate's rates':wink:

I have Marshall Powerguard A/T 33-12.50-15s on my rangie with a 5" lift and no trimming.
They have a fairly open tread so self clean and grip well with no isues in the rain on tarmac and are not noisy. They were £74 each four years ago and are half worn.
I like the look of the new  8) Kuhmo KL71 tyres 8)  as fitted to D44s new 110 double cab work horse. Check their site for pics ! They have a thread running on them at the mo :arrow: .
I reckon I might go for them when mine need replacing.

Cheers for info folks,

Bullfrog, what rims are you using, are they off set, the new Kumo's are nice,,

Any advise on the rims would be good or do I use spacers

I fitted 235/70/16 Amazon mud tyres to my unlifted disco with standard steel rims. The nearside catches on full lock even though the chart says they should be Ok.

I'd take everything on that "write-up" with a pinch of salt, it was a paid for advertising feature, not an editorial write up.

They may well be good, but i've not used them so cant comment, BFG-MT's are ace though :)

Hmm I thought that sounded like Cobley was on the payroll. Those tyres will make you a nice cup of coffee as well ya know!

Yeah, it even says advertising feature at the top of the page, still they look like good tyres, but i canna see them being so amazing that they are more capable than the vehicle, or some other such tosh.

Equivalent to other MT's like the BFG's, yes probably, waaaaay better like the feature suggests....unlikely.

Well here's some then:  :D

I'm running 33x12.5R15 General Grabber MT's on the Disco with 8Jx15 rims and a set of Scorpion Pro-spacers.

I've had the spacers fitted for 3 years and have had no problems what so ever with wheel bearings (which is the most common problem associated with spacers). As long as you keep the wheel bearings regularly greased and checked then you'll be fine.

I went for the Pro-spacers as they are TUV approved and have wheel centering lugs on them, unlike some of the other spacers available.
So at least I know the wheels will fit correctly and that the spacers have had some sort of safety test done on them.

The good thing with the spacers is that you can fit standard offset rims and still retain the normal turning circle of the vehicle.  :wink:
