I do not want to modify the speaker mounts etc. I just want to do a direct swap. I have bought new speakers for the rear door and real pillars.
The front doors require 4" speakers but the FLI ones I bought for the back pillars are too deep for the front.
What make and model offers a decent sound upgrade without the need for modifying the door panels?

I got a piar of Bull from Maplins for blue, damn good and very cheap. Otherwise take a look in Halfords, most manufacturers do a 4" speaker as it's a standard OE size and pretty much all of them have removable ugly plastic front that you can discard.

I went for some Sony ones in the end - just trying to find a model number for you.
They sounds much better than the original ones - also quite easy to modify the rears to put 5 inches in - just take the speaker out, take trmi panel off and you will see like a metal holder - cut the insides with tin snips so the metal holder is round(ish) and you can just drill new holes for the new speakers.
Have got pics of the speakers in my gallery

I can't remember where I got them from in the end, but if you do an internet search on the model number you should be able to get them for around £22 + postage. The smaller ones definitely fit fron and rear and it wasn't too much bother to fit the larger ones to the back.

i wanna fix a pair of 6x9's into the rear pillar, but i haven't a clue how to go about it!!! i was thinkin bout hackin the rear bracket up and hangin the 6x9 on the two top screws but i do a half decent amount of off roadin and the way i drive they'd be on the floor within 5 mins.
Any ideas???
Cheers
Al.

I just fitted upgraded 4†coax speakers in the rear pillars, problem is all the panels vibrate!! I don’t think I am ever going to get the sound quality I want.
