The speedo needle is jumping all over the place, looks like it is bouncing, used to be pretty accurate but now is reading about 5 - 8 mph under, so having to be careful in speed limit areas... Any suggestions to what it could be? I recently changed the transfer box oil seal could I altered the gear, in that there is play in there, maybe not doing the nut up tight enough, the one with the split pin going through? The mileometer and trip are working well, just the speedo needle bouncing. Hmm :?:
Cheers

sounds like a dodgy cable to me :)

as above mate....normally the sign of dodgy cable

either a dodgy cable or that nut aint on tight enough

I've still got to get around to sorting mine!! Try taking it out of the back of the speedo and giving it all a good clean, failing that try a new cable, failing that you may need a new worm and gear into the transfer box.

It could be the worm gear in the gearbox loose or aproaching knackered, probably easier to check the cable first though.

My cable snapped then I replaced it and it was spot on then snapped again. Changed it again and it bounced around.
I was told that there is a fluid thingy in the back of the speedo that smoothes the bouncing to an acurate speedo and that could have burst or leeked.
Worth a look!
