Title: Steering boxes 6 bolt/4 bolt
Post by: ibexman on July 25, 2006, 08:53:39
I need to replace the steering box on my truck and it is 6 bolt.  I'm after a new one but Adwest don't make them anymore. Just spoken to paddocks who said you can fit a 4 bolt without any other changes.  I was under the impression that the hydraulic pipes were different thread sizes - imperial for the 6 bolt and metric for the 4 bolt.
Does anyone know for certain?
Thanks

6 bolt and 4 bolt are interchangeable... tis 3 bolt that is different.

But I'd be suprised if they take a 6 bolt as the exhange for a four bolt jobbie...

We got into a good discussion about this with the Camel Trophy lot at billing, after asking to look at a CT 110 that was identical to mine... Except it was Poverty Spec and didn't have power steering.

Basically what they said was that LR will striaght replace a 4 bolt without charge, but not a 6 bolt. We're still not sure what ours has (haven't looked yet!)
