I have a cage like this that a mate made me. It is very handy. For sale if anyone wants it. I want a cage that goes to one side of the boot instead of accross the back so I can use one of the rear seats and have more space for the dog occasionaly. It isa god send though for keeping all my tools in and oil, ropes, shackels, tirfor (hand winch is sometimes kept in it) and anything else that fits. heavy duty. And it is a 1 off. If I sell it it will force me to persuade my mate to make me another cage!
go here for photos. (http://www.youngcaravan.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?p=15572#15572) they are a bit big but hey you get too see all the detail!!

My mate has a disco 3 door and he has fitted one of thos van vault type boxes in the back.
It has a lift out top tray where he keeps shakles and he keeps strops etc in the main area.
He has a full internal cage so it sits off centre but works a treat.
I am fitting an ammo box in the 90 but thats coz I already have it.
I like those pozy storage solution ones but they are not cheap.
Why not make a 1" box frame and clad it with ally chequer ?
There is a chap on ebay who sells these.
I think he will make it to suit you.

ive put a ahelf across the back, bolted to the bulkhead behind the rear seats, with supports down to the floor, this has two 26" stanley toolboxes on them, which have all the straps in one, jump leads, first aid kit, bottle jack etc in the other, you can then also store stuff behind these in between boxes and bulkhead cage. trhis is where my ratchet straps are.
kinetic just lays in back, another stanley box is bunged hard to bulkhead and this has all my tools in it, boots lay in the back, spade up one side, with hi vis hanging on it, few lighter bitson rear door.
i think it is quiet a good setup, still leaves plenty of space
i carry far to much stuff about, considered top box, but bit heavy to get out regular when i want my tools.

thumbs my man im loving that :D mine is ply lined in the back and my hi lift is bolted to the bulk head so would have to try something else

I have one of these machinemart galvanised tool boxes (http://www.machinemart.co.uk/product.asp?p=070110200) bolted to the floor in the back of my landy.
It is good as it also has a lock on which makes it a nice secure place to stash stuff in a ragtop!

my lift was on bulkhead, now stands upright in corner behind rear seat and is bunged to bulkhead, then the seat goes back on to it so i cananot move at all. wish mine was ply lined really but it came with all the proper trim in it.
