Dear ll,
At the play day on Sunday at Avon Dassett, I had some problems with the centre diff dropping in and out intermittently. Since I've had the vehicle the transfer box lever constantly moves over to the diff locked position whether I'm in high or low box. Never enough to engage the diff lock.
Symptroms yesterday were that initially I couldn't get up a steep slope out of a mud hole and only as I was being recovered did I notice the diff lock light was off. As we were sitting, having been recovered, the diff light cam e back on but dropped out for no apparent resaon after moving off.
At times, under strain, it came back but with a distinct clunk/bang but I couldn't identify a siutuation that caused it to drop out or to come back.
Can anyone shed some light on the situation for me please?
BTW, I've not yet checked fluid level and such.

Doesn't sound like oil level to me.
I'd check that the linkage (underneath) is all as it should be as a first port of call. Personally I think it sounds like a centre diff problem to me.

It's not very likely, but you might want to check the diff lock light switch. The one in the 101 used to falsely report the diff lock was on when the gearbox got hot. Could make you think your diff is locked when it's not, or vice versa.

Linkage sounds like a good start, thanks Andy B
Thermidor (Love the AVI & need a closer look at that 101!) doesn't feel like the switch as there si definitely something banging just as the light comes back on if there is any strain on gearbox. But thanks anyway.

Anyone got an update on this as I'm having exactly the same problem with my 110.
Linkages seem fine and the diff-lock light switch is not worn and works perfectly.

I really should shouldn't I...
Might make a start tommorow... done b*gger all today and feeling twitchy.
I'll report back if I can figure anything out...

SOunds like the operating side of things to me, maybe an adjustment if you are lucky.

I'VE FIXED MINE!!!! :D :(biggrin):
I tried everything i've been told yesterday and nothing worked. I eventually took the top off the lever housing and found the lever moved further and engaged the diff-lock. It seems it was actually caused by cumulative play in the linkage (every joint seemed okay, but together it must have been enough for the lever to be unable to push the diff-lock in). What I did in the end is file the hole in the guide plate larger and the lever now moves far enough to overcome the play in the linkage (I didn't have time to sort the linkage as I needed it working for laning today). :D
I'm very glad i fixed it as I ad no problems all day where a disco failed to get up. :twisted:

When I had the 50th, I had to do mine (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=1032) as well, as the entire turret had galvanitic corrosion & siezed solid.
Cost at the time?
£5.00 (turret), fuel to Halifax (& back), Copper-Grease & my time.
Say, £10.00 in total?
