Okay here's a very simple one after my own quiz (http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=27253) was hi-jacked & used against me
It's in 2 parts
Q1. In which film were the two main vehicles an American/English hybrid & a Latin sports-car? (that later influenced the styling of a British saloon)
Q2. Which actor (from the above film) later played the patriarch of a strange family??
As usual there are no prizes whatsoever
-
OUCH!!
Q2 - Adams family Gomez type link?
Scratches head and goes off into the web for some research. I may be some time!! 8)

O.K. here goes.
Q.1. - The Gumball Rally. A.C. Cobra and Ferrari Daytona 365GTB4.
Q.2. - Raul Julia. Played Franco Bertolini driving the Daytona in 1976.
Then played Gomez (thought so!) in The Adams Family Values in 1991
Phew 8)

I know it isn't going to be the answer, but the Rover P5B keeps ringing in my head for the hybrid car. American V8 and British car.

OOOPS!! SORRY PETROLHEADS - IT'S NOT A 365GTB/4!
IT'S A 365GTS/4!
THOUGHT I'D RECTIFY THAT BEFORE I GOT HAULED OVER THE COALS. 8)

Not trying to Hijack your quiz again Richard but:
Anyone know what the B in 365GTB/4 stands for?
Again - todays star prize is - NOWT!
JEZ
-
You're correct Jez
It was indeed the wonderful 'Gumball Rally' & a (young-ish) Raul Juali
It also featured a young Gary Busey in a Camaro
The real star sequence was the shots in the Los Angeles storm drains, as seen in the Terminator film with the truck & motorbike (& the 50's giant Ant films)
Imagine a Daytona & Cobra pirouetting at 100MPH in standing water, magic =D>
The English car it inflenced was the Rover SD1 (compare the fronts)
Some publicity shots showed the SD1 in conjunction with a Daytona
-
Thanks Rich for that.
May I hijack once again?
How does the Gumball Rally NOT QUITE link to Sonny Burnett - twice?
Good luck.
Jez.

Apparantly it's a pseudonym used by one of the charactors in the forthcoming 'Miami Vice' film & there was a Daytona in the TV series
(I don't know if one's going to be used in the film??)
-
There were actually two cars, neither of them Daytonas, but Corvette replicas. Not identical either, one had pop up headlights and the other had them faired in.
Both cars were bought from Miami Dade police recovered goods auction by the TV company after they were seased from the manufacturer by the U.S. trading standards for using the Ferrari and Daytona trade marks!
A mind full of useless information.

I think the B stands for 'Berlinetta', not sure of the significance but it's a name you see quite often on Ferrari coupes.
-
I had an Opel Manta Berlinetta SR for a while. Maybe they were Italian Designers?
-
That might be it. I know LM stands for le Mans, bit obvious really but youy see it on some Ferrari names too, mainly the older GTOs, proper cars they were :)
