Title: Black smoke - faulty MAF
Post by: thermidorthelobster on August 03, 2006, 18:35:54
The TD5 has been smoking a lot more than usual recently, so I took it up to James French for them to stick it on the computer.

I had a feeling it might be the MAF meter, as they do seem to go wrong sometimes, especially when you're using a K&N filter.

Sure enough, mine was outputting a constant "4" when it should be reading between 30-500 depending on the air flow.  They've replaced it, fortunately it's only £65 instead of the £450-odd for the one on my old P38.

It still smokes a bit but it's thin and grey instead of thick and black.  The K&N filter is now in the bin.  Anybody want a K&N cleaning kit FOC?

Actually I've found the filter too, they left it in the footwell, so that's also up for grabs!

Can't be bothered to post it now they've moved the bloody post office 20 miles away, so first person to remind me at the London-Brighton run can have it!  Or anybody who can be bothered to collect from Bagshot is very welcome.

First dibs on it please, you can give it to anyone of the MK bunch at Brighton for me, Turtle, Old Joe or Beliner Beer to name a few. :-)

Will do...  if you can pm me just before the event to remind me, that would be ideal.
