Apart from advertising.
-
it for the spiders to keep warm in the cold :D
-
One thing it does do is keep the blazeing sun from perishing the tyre and possibly from explodeing when parked for long periods in direct sunlight,
-
Also if you have a new spare tyre on it, and its an expensive one, it cant be seen, also another obstacle to removing the wheel
-
It also stops little bar stewards like the one next door to me from slashing the side wall

Best buy another 4 for the others then as mine usually dont move for days on end :)

It Makes lesser 4x4's look even Gayer than normal.... My Ninety hasn't got one
-
its the easiest way to get advertising on your vehicle
-
its some were easy to put your mud club splat on
-
It keeps the spare clean. So you only get half as dirty if you have to change a wheel.
-
To cover the wheel
-
I read a recent article in the motoring press on the subject.
There is an issue with deterioration of spare tyres caused by the heat generated by both direct sunlight and that reflected off the rear window.
A wheel cover will protect your spare from this!
Alaric.

To be nicked by little Toad rags from round the corner i have had loads nicked from various vehicles that i have owned and borrowed from work
-
To have a little "V" sign on it aimed at suzuki drivers ?
-
To have a huge sicker saying 'Get off my a$$' for green oval drivers :)
Oh and to fill up with nice, thick, sludgey mud.
-
In case you can only afford 4 alloys it covers the steel spare :D
-
i remember i had a disco cover on my spare and it took a while to take off cos it was a bit tight
very clever in an emergency!

.
Nice one. I asked for that.
-
To collect water and rot / corrode the wheel and tyre if you don't fit them properly. (The slot should be at the bottom and it should be removed regularly)
-
rubber perishes over time if exposed to UV light (the sun) so a wheel cover helps block those rays..thats why all tyres should be stored in a dark area..
-
OK, I'd love to get one but I run 255, 85, R16's, not seen any big enough yet!
Any advice?
-
get one for a 33/12.50
-
Know what you mean, get puncture rip the tyre cover to shreds trying to get it off. :( Happened on my Fronty, and that was on right sized tyre
too, May invest in a Stainless one when funds permit.
Cheers all Phil. :P
