Can anyone tell me what the sender is for on the top of a 300tdi head, the one that is half way down the right hand side as you look from the front - is it the temp gauge sender? I need to know, as I've just broken it off..........

Does that mean if I don't re-connect it, it's same as fitting a blanking plate :?

no,the EGR "could" be stuck in the middle, not reffiting this is the same as pulling the plug of the egr module, fitting a blanking plate & pulling the plug is a better option
