well I've mostly had mine done in berkshire so a little but of a trek for you.  However I used motoright in yateley - they were the ones who recently aborted hte test because it was too muddy - I had a good old look at her last night and she's only muddy in the normal places (wheel arch areas) underneath was just fine.

I have tended to try and use testing places that only offer tests (i.e. places that do no kind of repairs).  There is a place in pangbourne that I used to use a lot behind the petrols station.

I don't know of any lieniet car places at all - if anyone does, please pm me :-)

I do know of very good bike places though!

well I guess there are two theories you can use
1) go to a place that only does mot tests - no vested interest to fail (esp if they offer a free retest)
2) go to a place known to be linient - do you want them to turn a blind eye to something that could be dodgy though or would you rather know about it?
3) go to an average place that wants to fix your tyres, exhaust and brakes... guess what it will most likely fail on?

I'd like to have 1 + 2 so I can get my ticket but have some time to fix thigns :)

I know that's three - all the best two parters have three parts ;)

well i found somewhere that was willing to tes - jacksons in basingstoke.  the chap there seemed nice and friendly, had a look at the motor said that it wasn't too muddy so long as they could see the chassis, and esential components they were'nt worried about the odd bit (other places were being really anal as it wasn't *that* muddy).  He also advised me to change my plates and do the steering stops else he woudl fail on those.

So all in a nice guy, a nice garage (we take the wifes car there for normal stuff), and a nice attitude that when they are such a busy place (they have at least 20 work bays I'd say) but it's still a family run place (according to the adverts) and has been around 40 odd years.

I'll be booking in next week sometime and will let you know how I get on.
