The "I don't like it so we must ban it" attitude of this man beggars belief. The last line is interesting:
"Is it now time to banish motorcycles completely from our National Parks?"
Having outlawed most offroading now they're after the bikers!

I could type some think, but I think it would get removed.

post a nice reply
Your point is moronic.Did you notice we have the right to drive the vechicle of our own chosing where we chose and when we chose?
Or would you like to have all vechicles that dont fit in your narrow minded view of life banished to special colonies.
Oh didnt some one else do this in germany already as you seem to sight germany as an example?
But that wasnt a vechicle they sent away but a whole religious/ethnic group.
Next you'll probably have some drivel on your blog about banning any vechicle thats not green in colour because they stand out from the scenery and spoil your view.
All this idiot needs is the uniform and the peaked cap.......
hang on a minute

Yeah saw that but its still worth telling him what a small minded little idiot he is.
Wasnt this the guy clarkson kept on talking about on topgear where he had been saying things like people who break the speed limit should be tried as attempted murderers or something similar?

What a W*****!

I used to live in the area he talks about and to some extent he's right about "some" of the motorcyclists who ride there - but then he does clearly say "Most riders are responsible and courteous".
He like many is expressing an opinion (to which not everyone will agree which is fine) and it ends with not a statement but a question "Is it now time to banish motorcycles completely from our National Parks? " At least he's asking people and not telling them!
I'm often amazed at how quick people are to call names and insult when something disagrees with them.
An informed opinion or disagreement is one thing but do we always have to resort to name calling and nasty remarks - lets face it - It doesn't give weight to an arguement in fact far from it - It detracts from the point and makes the point weaker.

My Reply, I live in the area and I don't ride a bike but I still feel angry.
North Wales Police are well known nationwide (to a certain extent Worldwide) for having a motorist hostile Chief Constable.
Is this the way in which his deputy "Brown noses" to ensure he gets the position?
"Look sir, look at me I can attack them and be a biggot as well".

myself and four of my mates went a ride around wales ,on a route we found in one of the motorcycle magazines ,fortunatley for us we werent speeding ,and we were not in any hurry as we encountered no more than 5 mobile speed cameras and 3 spot checks ,basically checking the size of number plate and exhaust pipe, legallity.I was so disgusted at the blatent targeting of motorcyclists by wales police ,ive never rode my bike there since ,as with all kinds of interests there are always a small element who spoil it for others ,and i think education is better than heavy handed tactics ,i bet the chief plonker has never rode a bike

So their tactics worked...?

If he was refering to curtailing the activity of just a few nuisance bikers then fair enough. But notice how quickly in his mind this turns into "ban ALL bikers".
Just a symtom of the 'we must ban everybody' attitude that seems pervade our society.
I can imagine that this is almost exactly how the seeds of the NERC Bill were sown.....

Ok, feel free.
You have banished me from spending money with local traders when I bring my landrover down (and with accomodation, food and fuel that was an awful lot of money over a few days every couple of months or so). So as I dont quite spend as much when I come by bike the local shopkeepers wont really notice the difference.
In case you are actually as mindless as many of the anti-whatever-makes-a-good-target-of-opportunuty crowds, the first three words of this note were sarcasm.
Guess banning motor-vehicles is the only way to keep the smaller local shops financially viable

I live in North Wales and by having an extremely visual tactics they have managed to reduce motorcycle deaths down to about one a week, although 4 died in one week back in May.
The bikers killed are usually between 35 and 45, from the midlands and are killed on a left hand bend where the biker was going too fast and went straight into oncoming traffic or the wall.
Education works, but once a week it does not
Banning is a bit OTT though.
-
yes there are a lot of idiots on bikes ,but if you put someone who has just passed his test ,or not been on a bike for a long time ,on top of a machine that can outrun a ferrari ,something is bound to happen sadly ,my friend was killed doing only 15mph on a 250 suzuki ............. the local pub by me has a bike meet every wednesday and the police attend and chat to the bikers ,accidents have been reduced by them just doing some community policing ,not trying to enforce a ban on bikes
-
I have just sent a nice courteous response, explaining that we can`t all afford cars and that it is nice to smell the tree blossom and the dampness of the earth and that he cannot tar us all with the same brush.
However, it would be nice to find out where he lives
-
The chief of North Wales Police does have a reputation as being a bit 'maverick' in his outlook, but a bit better than the Hants guy who is a bit 'weak' if you know what I mean.

I'm all for bike safety. The carnage in Warwickshire has been horrendous- one death per fornight last summer- but banning bikers from our National Parks is another step closer to a Dictatorship.

No worries Paul but I would post your own comments. If everyone posts the same it takes the edge off it as then it becomes more like a spam responce.
:)

just my responce to that and by no way having a dig.
How long ago was it people where saying "most 4x4 drivers are responsible and courteous but is it now time to banish 4x4's and offroaders from our countryside let alone national parks etc
then came NERC and look where we are now and how much of the country's lanes are lost to us now most likley for ever :?:
Its starts with ban some thing from somewhere on certain days then its ban them the rest of the time then its ban them from everywhere for ever.
Its the thin end of the wedge
