Title: whats your odometer reading??
Post by: dreadnought110 on August 16, 2006, 20:08:02: Ok who has the highest miles on a private car i.e not used for work i've had my land rover for 9 years it had done 78,000 when i bought it it has now done 256,000 we have been lands end to john'o'groats and every where in between (well almost)... :D :D

Post by: dreadnought110 on August 16, 2006, 20:24:18: Well i spent around a grand rebuilding the blooming thing then about 50,000 miles later i got sick of using almost as much oil as diesel the breather was filling the chassis (got sick of it changing the air filter into an oil filter :x ) so i bit the bullet and went to 300tdi and it's been brilliant since :D :D doesn't use oil water just diesel :D

Post by: Rich_P on August 16, 2006, 20:56:20: 72,000 miles displayed on the odometer of the 2A. Possibly been around the clock once already but there's no easy way to tell. Transmission wear doesn't show it has, neither does the wear on the gear stick or steering wheel.

My Citroen Xantia (sorry :roll: ) has sofar done over 300000 miles with the original clutch still in it! and NO breakdowns yet...
In fact i commented to someone today how well she ran, BIG mistake! she promptly went in limp home mode limiting the revs to 2300 :twisted:
Luckily she soon recovered and seems ok again

My 90V8-CSW had 32,000miles (verified) when I bought it at 13years old

The 110 is a 1999 registration, & has just passed 54,000miles

The 'spare-car' (Fabia) is a '03' & has just gone over 15,000

I am taking it to Spain this weekend (1300 miles), bit nervous (longest journey I will have done).

It towed the Defender in my Avatar to Germany and still did 30 to the gallon.

Speaking of which, the Defender has so far done 0 miles, but I can't wait!

there's nothing wrong with THOMAS the tank engine.

DUCK has 185,000 on the clock (e reg)
DIESEL has 43500 (d reg)
the orange has 84000 (d reg)
the series 2a is showing 47512 (m reg)

Smokes a bit on start up but sounds sweet and goes well. Gerbox is a bit noisy but changes sweet.
I have all the MOTs and full history so not worried about mileage. :shock:
I buy based on whole vehicle never mileage or reg. :?

Does 15,000 on a 1978 chassis get that (only 5 digit odometer).

I think it's the third time it's been there, though. Oh, and the third engine that I know about.

Dad's 300Tdi is on 340,000 with the original gearbox, engine and clutch.. does that count for anything ?

Post by: Range Rover Blues on August 18, 2006, 11:43:23: 180,000 plus on my old cavalier, original engine, 'box, CLUTCH etc. Had new dampers just before it went off the road but the only major thing it's had was a head gasket.
