The management of Land Rover in Solihull have 1 week to come up with a plan that is agreeable with Ford.
Will this be the end of nearly 60 years of history
It will be a great shame.

As with everything in britian it will probably go abroad where its cheaper to produce & sting us for the product when it comes back. Not the best way 2 do things.   :x

Saying that, the Solihull plant doesn't traditionally have a great reputation for high build quality, high levels of productivity, happy workers cheerfully cooperating with management, etc...
I have a friend who works there, so of course I don't want to see it go, but it's not entirely surprising Ford have raised the point, is it?

Yes, unfortunately that has been common right across the UK motor industry. And when someone like BMW steps in and starts throwing shedloads of money at a dying company, everyone outside the industry starts bleating about our heritage being stolen. The way this example was carried out may not have been too great, but MG Rover would not exist if it weren't for BMW. I suspect the same could be said of LR and now the problems have been transfered to Ford.
It is a real shame that we don't seem to be able to build anything in this country any more. Of course, any number of reasons/excuses are blamed, but never poor quality labour or bad people management. I am sure there are many workers at LR that are proud of what they do and really try to do the best thay can. But I suspect they are in a minority.
