hi there, My flat mate has a series 3 which is a bit shabby on the outside so he wants to paint it, by hand. So:
1) what type of paint should he use.
2) how should he apply it (brush, roller, throwing a bucket at it).
3) how much prep-ing.
Any advice or help in this matter would be considered as we came to the conclusion we had no idea what to do.
He wants to do it cheaply and by hand.
Thanks
Ian

1. depends on the finish you want
2. depends on the finish you want
3. depends on the finish you want
I painted my LWB in nato sand with a brush and minimal prepping and it looked as good as any miliary land rover ever looks!

cool. I know he wants to use it as a wedding car in the next month or so, so i think the finish needs to be presentable.
Is there any type of paint that will give better results than others, and are there any things he should know to make the job as simple as possible.

did mine with a cheap spray gun, with the same enamel plant paint i get from work, gave it a quick rub with sandpaper to key the surface and a wipe with thinners, jobs a gud'un

Thanks for the advice. My flatmate painted his this weekend. It has gone purple, he took lots of photos which i would post, but my flatmate writes for Total Off Road and i think he is going to go an article on it, so keep you eyes pealed for it in the next couple of months.
cheers
Ian
