If you buy the 90 with a [!Expletive Deleted!] diff I have one you can have for FREE how is that. It might not have been the diff mate. Did you check the propshaft UJs ? At that price I think you are a bit silly. Why did ya not get jim to come and have a look at it with ya......Dam
-
reckon it was the diff as under hard acceleration it was clunckin.was too much of a solid sound to be a uj.i reckon that it wanted more than the diff, brobably the 1/2 shafts where worn.plus the clutch was nakt and the brakes didn't work!wasn't sure what the clutch's are like to do so left it.don't wana get stuck with another "zuke".i would like p/s too coz that was a pig to turn!
-
Nay. we will get you into a proper landy one day.....he he
-
just waitin for the guy in bolton to ring then i can go see about this one.so i may be ringing my technical advisor around tea time!
-
Not saying what I paid for my 90 ;)

-
Jaws ya can't take it with you, spend it and nobody can take it either. You can save and be sensible when You are too old and knackered to have fun. And yes lost i am........
These are they BTW - very grippy tyres, renowned offroad actually. I would keep them but i have the grizzlys. Click on the 80p on my signature and You will se how big they are.
-
they look pretty dam good to me old lad.we'll be havin takes 2nite at the pub!
-
well, the prop uj's are getting sorted, and should be back on landooki tomorrow.hopefully making the diff quieter!even though the input bearing appears to have gone!the fan belt finally got changed as wasn't right far of going.the leads to the battery box and other ancillary wiring has been protected from chaffing.various things tightened and secured, next thing to attack is looking like the o/s/r wheel cylinder, but may just bodge that depending on how bad it is!
toying with the idea of putting a range rover rear axle in as they are disc braked.according to people outside the club, these can be picked up reasonable and don't sound that bad to fit.as long as the shockers are facing the right way!has anyone ever seen or heard of this being done, and in fairness is it viable to do so? :?
-
Don't early 90's have a wierd shocker setup wi one in front an one behind the axle? Why bother its only a toy and drums are cheaper to replace.....
Just my thoughts (have had a few JS so may retract tommorow)
-
yeah the shocker does face forward but again i've been told that on some rangie axles the set up is the same only disc!the reason i was considering it is that in comparison discs are easier than drums and don't really clog with [!Expletive Deleted!] like drums do!just testin the water so to speak!
-
gutted, ripped out the old diff today,30mins was out easily!started to clean up the casing ready to fit the 2nd hand disco diff.stuffed a hand full of rags into the axle casing, and started to push them out with the new half shaft.thats when a problem arose.
half shaft won't fit into axle casing! gutted.so i had a cig and swore alot, then ding it hit me."i wonder if a disco axle will fit into a 90?"after speaking to various people we came to the conclusion that it would.so tomorrow all being well i pick up my axle and slam it into the landy on my next days off. :) hmmm wonder what problems i'm guna hit now. :? :-k
plus side is i'm guna be running dics all round, downside is i'm guna have to fit an axle, and everthing under the motor looks b*lloxed! :-k
-
Bummer matey. Hope it works out.
