Dingwall in Scotland that is, what do we do for offroading up here as ive moved up from kent where we had greenlanes coming out of our ears, any clubs about or is it just the pay and play sites that happen to all be about 70 miles away me!
-
Be patient my friend. I've just moved into the area myself. The Landrover should be following in a few weeks. Already got a little bit of "laning" planned. I'll keep you posted as to what's going on.
-
Great, where abouts have you moved too.
-
Dalchreichart. It's near Invermorriston. (that's before you say "where" like everyone else seems to). You wouldn't have moved up to work at IML would you???
-
yea just down the road from me then, and there is a byway near you the only one i belive!, and IML who are they then, no iam still looking around for a job.
-
IML. Inverness medical limited. Or, Lifescan Scotland as they are now called. Biggest employer in the highlands and in the middle of a large recruitment drive. Every employment agency from Glasgow up has heard of them. The by-way, if that's what they are up here, are you thinking of the Corriarich pass? It featured in this months LROi. Thats the bit of lanning I've sort of got sort of organised-ish. Starts at Fort Augustus and ends in Laggann. It might have to wait till spring if I don't get T'old lass up here and a new clutch fitted sharpish. Hoping she should be joining us in around 4 weeks so should be ready to roll in around 5ish.
-
yep thats the lane/byway or whatever its called and i think is the only one, if you come across anything else give me a shout and i you, keep in touch as to st augustus-laggan an we will tag along if thats ok.
-
Hello lads I`am in the same boat as you , moved here 6 months ago and only found 1 lane , but working on finding more
We moved to the Isle of Skye from Northampton to run a B&B
Maybe we should all get together and try to come up with a plan or something of the other
-
hi lads,im not in ur neck of the woods but have been over the pass a fair few times, the last time i was up at the fortaugustus end the road had ben badly washed away due to the culvert becoming blocked  (not naturally, manually) & the water running down the road ,at the time slroc went up & repaired the road as best we could although we didnt have 30+ tons of hardcore to fill the hole in so it was really only passable to trials vehicles or those with rocksliders.in this months lro they dnt say anythin about it but as far as im aware it could well be in poor condition,But dnt hold it against me as ive not been over for a while.also its not that important but if u go over the pass at walking pace its 1/2 hour faster than goin round by road.
-
Hi guy's, been slow replying, been on hols. Hopefully T'old lass should be coming up in the next few weeks, then there's only a new clutch between me and the open(off) road. Will keep you posted.
-
Are well you missed the sun then it poped out for a bit!
-
Bad news I'm afraid. The pass has been rather permenantly closed. Concrete and steel post type of closed. At the fort augustus end. Not sure if this is a legal closure but it's certainly an official one. Anyway, on a brighter note, I've met a local guy who's into the whole outdoor scene. He knows loads of legally drivable places, and the land owners. T'old lass should be joining us at the begining of Jan now. Was hoping she would be here some time since but the best laid plans and all that #-o . Also aquired another landy but thats a story for another time! So all being well begining of the new year should see some off road shenanigans. 8) Keep you posted.
-
I was up at the Corrieyairack a couple of months ago - the closure at the Fort Augustus end is 'under debate' as one official put it - the lawyers can't decide if it is legal or not (but get paid a lot of money to argue over it no doubt)
Pete.
-
the last thing i heared through the long grape vine was it was illegally closed by the adjacent landowner, who i beleive no longer resides there,"he" blocked it 2 stop drivers using the route & as scottish hydo board neet 2 access the to p o the hill he let then go through his land so there was no need for the road 2 be repaired, long story cut very short,
-
whilst im here,as far as im aware there are NO other legal lanes/byways in scotland, just the corryaireck pass, the law is slighly different up here, best person to speak 2 would be sandy young who is the green road run organiser for the slroc, most of the runs take place on private tracks with permission from land owners, scottish hydro board etc,iff u wish ill try n find a contact NO for him.
-
Cheers Karloss get back to me if you get somthing over your way.
V8 Does the SLROC have other makes tag along, thought they were into trials and heavy stuff like that.

Your right, no legal lanes/byways but there are, so I'm reliably informed, a lot of sympathetic land owners who don't mind you using tracks and accsess lanes providing you ask first. Be very grateful for Sandy's phone number if you could pm it to me, Thanks.
-
slroc do rtv's,trials, comps, green road runs, drivin days, other makes are allowed 2 play, there was a load o suzis at the torphicen driving day durin the year & my mate did an rtv at bathgate in his toyota surf
