Title: Spark Plugs and LPG

Thinking of replacing the spark plugs on my 1992 3.9 EFI V8 Range Rover.

Now this vehicle has LPG fitted, so do I still use the recomended spark plugs(whatever they may be) and is the gap affected due to the LPG?

AFAIK the gaps are the same and you can use normal V8 spark plugs.
I always did on mine and had no problems.

Geberal advice is to close them up to 27thou or thereabaout ie 3 thou different.  LPG is much harder to ignite so avoif cheapo parts in your ignition too, for example rotor arms can be up to 1mm shorter, the spark will travel it's easiest path to earth so any problems tend to show up on LPG first.

Personally i used Iridium plugs from Chris Perfect on Blue, they cost £8 each :shock:
The LSe has not had a set in it yet and it runs fine since I replaced the LPG system with a new multi point.  Again the gap is 27 thou.

NGK spark plugs are highly regarded by many LPG buffs.  I use BP5ES or BP6ES in my high compression 3.5v8 on carbs - at least I think that's what they are from memory, it's something like that anyway!

Decent HT leads are a worthwhile investment as well.  Magnecor are well respected.

Yep, BP6ES on the hc 3.9 I know off by heart, avoid BPR6ES as the resistor makes things a bit harder.  For heaven's sake never fit platinum plugs, they won't work with LPG.

Oh now that makes sence guess which plugs i have fitted to my LPG yes they are ngk yes they have BP at the start and a 6ES at the end plus a letter R in them as well. Think i will be buying a new set of plugs very soon :roll:
