Last night we had a call to a police car on fire,,, arrived at the scene and we were parked up with around 50 ploice cars...
"Sorry boys you aint going over there", and illegal rave in full swing which had now progressed into a battle between the police and the ravers because the police were serving them notice to clear the site.
In the process the ravers set light to 2 police cars nicked the keys from 7 others.
About 300 coppers from Essex,Herts,Suffolk, Cambs and Norfolk all in riot gear needless to say the rave eventually ended, the police were faced with various objects being chucked at them , I policeman lost the top of his finger, loads of other injuries to both parties.
We just stood by and watched, they were concerned they would set fire to the marquee the ravers had on site.
2 Disco's were dragged out a D2 and D3 well smashed up, not a window or straight panel on them..
We went out a 10 last night got back at 7 this morning.
Some people

Heard about that on Radio 2 news this afternoon.
They interviewed a couple of the 'ravers', who (as predicted) bleated on about
'Police brutality', facist bully-boys, OTT riot squad, etc........
The Chief Superintendant (or Constable?) replied as simply using 'neccessary force' to meet the danger to his Officers.

Sod the hoses - use PBR's (plastic baton round).

Always thought a nice pack of well trained General Purpose Police Dogs would calm these things down quite fast
Although I would feel a touch bad if one of the dogs got injured.

IIRC "d" cell batteries are the same size as a batton round and , alegedly, fit the launcher as well!

you could look at it that if the police had left them to it, no one would have got hurt, Murph could have spent his night doing something worth wile, my taxes wouldn't have been wasted on a couple of wrecked police cars...
I know they shouldn't have been there but were they really doing any harm except to themselves.

Train a hose on the generator or sound system until silence returns.
If that doesnt work maybe the Forestry commision could lend out a fire fighting helicopter. 2000 gallons of cold water from a great height might change their minds about going home.

I'm sure everyone here can appreciate that with certain things, the responsible majority get tarred by the same brush as a mindless few. From my experience, the vast majority of 'raves' (They're generally known as 'free parties' within the community these days) are organised with permission of the landowner, well away from civilisation and the site cleared of all rubbish thoroughly afterwards. Sadly, as seen here, there are always muppets out to spoil it for everyone.
It is annoying for the well-behaved majority that the actions of a select bunch of morons are going to make it ever harder for free parties to be held.
As this is remarkably similar to our situation with regards green-laning whereby a tiny minority generate all the bad press that reflects upon everyone here, I hope you'll understand that most people and most parties are responsibly run, but will never get into the news. I went to a party out in the hills recently - permission from the landowner was sought, the sound system configured to prevent sound travelling to the nearest habitation - about seven miles away - and all rubbish (there wasn't much tbh) removed from the site afterwards. Of course, this party didn't make it into the news as there were no aggrieved members of the public, just as most responsible 4x4ers will never be subject to a Daily Mail hate campaign, leaving only negative publicity to come to light.
