Im going to rust proff my disco but what stuff should i use theres loads of products about
-
waxoyl work well..good thick coating.

POR-15 is probably OK for fairly new chassis, but I wouldn't use it again on an older vehicle. I followed all of the preparation guidelines but the paint still started to flake off after about 5 months. Stick with waxoyl

When you say a good thick coat of waxoyl what happens if the 'skin' is broken, can water get underneath and be trapped?

For rust POR-15 is a very good product www.frost.co.uk (I think this is the address) sell it, I found it sticks like [PooPoo] to a blanket 8)
Waxoyl as a sprayable light yellow paste is good for inside chassis with the pump gun, and you can buy under-body protection of the thick hard black tar type with waxoyl built it.
Personally, I'd use POR-15 on clean bare rust, waxoyl sprayed into the chassis through any holes etc and then get the Schultz gun and spray the thick under-body protection on with a compressor 8)

ersonally I've had a bad experiene of that thick stuff on the chassis. Looks like the seal was broken and water got trapped between the goo and the chassis making a hole.
Could be coincidence but all the rust is near where this goo was applied.
That's why I asked about waxoyl.

i used POR-15 under my 90 it is good stuff and it has lasted very well in the past two years . wear protective gloves because it doesnt come off you skin for about a week after !
i prefer this to any wax/oils as you can see whats happening to the chassis . ok some of it may flake away ,.but it isnt hard to re-apply to a few areas .

Coroless if you can find it, is much better.
