Hi Ray, is it a genuine 200 you have or is it a retrofit?

Could be the fan is goosed, the rad is silted up (oh, you said it's new) or something else is blocked.  Not unheard of for the pump to not be working.  Belt slipping?

round town mine stays around halfway, but down the motorway (reading a top speed of 60mph.. although probly round 70 due to wheel size) it goes up to the edge of the white, only rarely off it, but seems to be fine..

you tried a good service? clogged filters make the enigine work more, so do other restrictions like siezed brakes etc.. worth checking over

gauge, its the only thing left

first thing i would do is see if its overhaeting or its an electrical problem.
you can do this by buying a non-contact thermometer. and measuring the accual temp on the rad, and see if it is the same as what is being displayed on the dash.
