when you say 3-4 mm of travel what exactly do you mean - does the pedal only move that far? If so then that is most likely a bust clutch fork (quite normal) the part is £15 but if you pay somewhere to do it £300+.
certainly the symptoms you are experiencing are a dragging clutch, why it is dragging is another matter.
When a clutch wears out it would normally slip as opposed to drag, so you need to consider, master/slave cylinders too both of which are not expensive and are relatively easy to do.
I did my slave whilst I had the box out so it was easy peasey, if you can do it on the car I am not sure. Master should be easy but with all LR jobs allow 3 weeks! :o
Give me some more info and I should be able to give you a better idea.

Could it be the master or slave cylinders leaking past the seals? maybe causing the clutch to not disengage fully?
-
nope not them, both brand new
the clutch only bite on the last 3-4 mm of pedal travle ie as ur just about to take ur foot off the pedal
it had a brand ne gen arm and thrust bearing when i put the disco box in 6 month ago
but i never changed the clutch coz it was ok....but then ive done 3 challenge events since then so its had alot of grief
so my personal oppinion is clutch on way out
but as i sed not 2 worry she coming out soon for a rebuild agen
10k on her  needs a rebuild agen as their no puff in her at all now
shows how much punishment they get at events that i do :?
thanks for you help all
