Title: 98 Disco fault.
Post by: Ost on September 15, 2006, 20:03:14
NUMBER 1

Is it common for the rear door mecahnism to not work ?

i have a central locking one and every time i unlock it the pin drops back down and i need to use the key in the lock and turn it whilst trying to open the door :(

this is ok unless you are like me and leave the keys in the back and because it's the commercial model i have to use a long bit of wire to retrieve them

NUMBER 2

The rear sills have rotted around the bolt that fixes the rear quater to the chassis.

is their anyway to fix this problem ?

any after market plastic cover like the TD5's have that you can buy ?

Hi, central locking is a very common problem sound's like you need a new motor, as for sill's without looking hard to say, is it the qrt panel or the steel sill section ?, if it's the sill it will need a bit of welding,

Hope this help's,

Please put your location in your profile then someone may ''pop'' round & have a look for you  ,

the idea of it being just a spring sounds about right as the pin can't even hold it's own weight

I'd go with the spring as well.
If it was the motor then it wouldn't work at all with the central locking.

Springs on the locks are a pain when they go, specially the back door.  Theres a guy on Eblag selling them.

Havent heard of a washer bottle splitting before ? You do have it filled with water and not an emergency (wife proof) lager supply ? If you do you need a vessel capable of taking the extreme pressure that builds up or empty it before going off road
