The Range Rover has lost its last link to BMW, with the replacement of the 3.0 diesel engine with a brand-new V8 developed by Land Rover's parent, Ford.

The new engine is based on the 2.7 V6 diesel in the Discovery and produces 272 bhp. Other changes for the 2007 Range Rover include (depending on version) Terrain Response, electronic rear 'e' differentials, cooled front seats, improved air conditioning and extra stowage.

Prices start at £53,995 for the entry-level 3.6-litreTDV8 HSE and rise to £74,795 for the V8 Supercharged Vogue SE.
