For once i am going to be nice about them cos they did get something right! I bought a replacement drop arm off them couple of weeks ago, but little beknown to me at the time you should also change the lockwasher with the drop arm. So i phoned up Paddocks and asked why they didnt supply one with the kit and he admitted that he had no idea.
The result being that he is sending one out to me FOC :D I was all prepared to pay for one as i needed it, but i didnt get the chance :D
So well done (for once!)

I find Paddocks are like that all the time.. always found them to be excellent...
-
I always had nothing but bother with them before, so this was a nice breath of fresh air!
-
If it's one of their arms, pre assembled with a ball joint, keep your eyes on the joint. I put one on at the same time as changing the power steering box. It's worn to MOT advisory within 3 months. And it hasn't had a hard life in that time. Only off roaded once.
I'm going to put a genuine one in.
-
Different people with different experiances I guess... :?

The ball joint i have in the new one did look different to the one they supply as a kit. The ball with the bolt part sticking out of it was silver in my kit, was also suprised that they didnt also supply a new nut for the top or a split pin which are both bits you get in the kit!

only problems I have ever had with paddocks is there courries but aprart from that they always seem good
-
Bought quite a few things from them over the last few weeks, service has been pretty good ... even refunded a set of Warn 8" spots that I had to return because they were too big to fit on the A-bar (shoulda measured first!). Full refund and no restocking fee which I was happy about. No quibbling either.
Don't get that from many companies so I'd use them again.
-
I'm not complaining about the ball joint really. Bit miffed about it lasting so little time, but not worth worrying about.
I've used Paddocks on numerous occasions and, although delivery can be a little slow sometimes, I am perfectly happy with the service they give.

With the greatest of respect Steve have you rang Paddocks and ask them what they think of the situation?
I know you say in your later post you are not complaining but if the unit has failed then to help Paddocks (and therefore future customers) to know if the products they are supplying are up to standard they need feedback like this.
If they then say "tuff luck mate, we are not interested" then tell the world (ie put it on MC) but if they say "sorry sir we will send you a replacement FOC" then also tell the world.
I personally have no complaints about Paddocks but living where I do I never have anything send by courier I just jump in the car and drive up there (having rang first to check stock).
This is not a dig at you Steve as I am the same, not worth complaining for the price, but as an ex retailer of electrical products I know that the only way you know that the product you are selling are faulty is if people tell you.
Ring them and talk to them nicely and you may be presently surprised.
-
I fully appreciate what you are saying mate. I sell automotive parts for a living. It's just finding the time to do it when I am on my own a lot of the time during office hours. Can't really be caught on the phone with incoming calls getting missed as a result.
I might drop Sophie an e-mail though.

Not taken that way :D

As I said, I've always been happy with their service. On the occasions they do get it wrong I have always found them responsive to getting the problem sorted. That's the best you can ask of anyone really.
-
ive always found Paddocks service to be pretty good, the couriers can be a bit hit and miss, but the service is usually great.
watch what you buy though, i try to avoid anything made by Britpart, as its usually rubbish, and yes i can quote examples, like the waterpump that lasted 11 days, and the hub seals that don't fit.
Paddocks have started doing a bit more OEM stuff now, like ball joints and bearings, and its usually only a couple of quid more... is it worth fitting crap...????
-
Well this is good, the lockwashers arrived this morning, although i think i may have ordered the wrong part, cos these just look like normal round washers, even though the part numbers are the same :? and weirdly, they have sent me 5 as well, they are £1.03 inclusive of VAT each and they sent me the pack of 5!!
Oh well, will see what happens when the mechanic looks after lmao
-
I think you knock one side up and the other side down. This then locks the nut to the arm rather than to the shaft.
The lock washers aren't important if the nut is tightened to the correct torque. The washer is only a safety 'back up' feature.
-
Yeah, the guy who replaced the drop arm wanted it done with the lockwasher so he knew it was done properly
