As an alternative to the standard Tdi/TD5 or V8 options, what other engines (and or gearboxes) that can he well tuned can be fitted to a 90?
-
I'd stick with a LR motor for ease, either a Td5 or a 300Tdi.
Other options would be a 2.8TGV engine.... or a BMW 2.5 TDi engine (which when chipped go very well) or the later 3.0l with the VNT turbo.

Hmm the BMW engines sound interesting, isn't the TD5 esentially the same as the 2.5???
I'll prob stick to TD5 if i do this, i've found a accident smashed 04 plate that might be worth a look, bodywork is nackered but it could be good for chassis and running gear dependant on the damage.

Nope.... very, very different.

You're only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off

I had a nice conversion in my old 90 using a Ford 3ltr V6 Essex and a kit from Steve Parker Land Rovers.
Plenty of power, 18-20 mpg and enough room under to hood that you could stand on the front axle to work on the engine!! :D
There's always the GMC 5.7, 6.2 or 6.5 ltr V8 into a 90, best to couple this one to an auto box due to the bottom end torque!

In the mid 90's there were a few people doing 2.5TDi Iveco engine conversions.
The engine is very well thought of and was used across the world in various vans, it looked a very tidy conversion but how it compared to the 200 or 300TDi I have no idea.
