Well wat a interesting day started off lovlayyy finished work at 6am came home got changed had a shower and set off to meet up with smog to collect a very nice nato hitch :oops: sorry about the socket m8 nice to meet a fellow member again :) thats 2 in leicester i know now lol and thennnnnnnn the hassles begin.
1. try ringing the guy who i won the sankey from to get a addy to pick it up.. NO answer
2. have a paddy decide to find a mc donalds and got lost WITH the aid of tomtom
3. Heading down m1 when the disco blows her rad all over the floor ring the nice lady at the said firm "no problem we will be 45 mins sir"
phone call from another lady "are u in a layby sir?" erm no im on the m1 they dont do laybys its called the hard shoulder " o well the recovery vehicle will pick u up and take u too a safe place then" this meant being picked up 2 hours later and taken from jnc 9 of the m1 to watford gap and being dumped without a hint of opening the bonnet "you gotta ring the aa guvnor they wont let us take u home" another hour and half i ring again and ask whats going on to get some STUPID lad that tells me my membership wont include rescue........... THEN WHAT AM I PAYING FOR?
been a memeber since 1995 used them 3 times..... (twice in the disco :shock: ) and on both previous occasions the bloke says yer its broke and would u like recovering to home or a garage. so whats changed? theyre still, sorry WERE taking my 59.99 to be a member
in the end it cost me £80 to find my own flatbed taxi to take me home and i might add just his winch was a bit ropey but he was a very nice guy and couldnt do enough to help
for a simple trip up the road wat a nightmare

i had this with the other rescue lot i was paying the most u could pay i.e for family etc etc it was classed as there gold package..... so one day when i tried to start my old golf gti at home it was having none of it so i phoned em to be told i dont have home start :shock: :x :x so after 20mins of explining why i pay 160 a year for wot he then gave in the little twarp :wink:

youve just got roadside cover then mate not relay aswell! its about 80 odd quid a year for that aswell. worth every penny though i think.
but did you get our sankey?

no didnt get "my" sankey lol geezer didnt answer his phone or return call but i do have a email from him about it ill ring him again tom and discuss

but the previous twice they have recovered me.... and i was polite until they dumped me at watford gap where upon i did mention a dark crevice and little yellow card..

we are with the RAC, and have not had a problem - got peed off with the AA thats why we swapped, have both of us on it with roadside and recovery..

recovery club would have come in handy :cry: sorry about your hassle i waited four hours when i broke down

I'm surprised you had to wait 2 hours on a hard shoulder, that should be a priority call. I'm also surprised the police didn't have you moved off at your own cost by one of their subcontractors. They usually want things cleared off the hard shoulder asap.

after filling my TDI with petrol the AA picked my disco up from the garage and dropped it off at my home free of charge :? :?

I was just sorry i couldn't have helped more, the best i could do is turn around grab water run it back turn around again then hope it would run or even tow you back to my house to then fit a RR rad which i didn't know if it would fit anyway.......blah blah blah blah
That half mile run from my car to your motor on the M1 was the furthest i have ran in over 20 yrs, and then i could do little more than ask if i could do anything.
Glad you got back ok in the end, like i said already just wished i could have helped out a bit more.
The socket was old a ww thread and besides i have a whole load more to break still :lol:

My mum on her own broke down at 4.30pm a few weeks ago. The AA finally recovered her at 9.30pm.
Lone female(not top priority but high enough) in dark country road.
She wrote to complain, got 1 years membership and £50.
Still cr@p service though, especially as the first given time was 45mins and no [ed: naughty] bothered phoning to keep her informed. Apparently they were busy.

The AA recovered me last week from Jedburgh (Scottish Borders) back to Redditch (Worcestershire) about 264 miles...
That was 1x Disco, 1x caravan, 2x adults, 3x dogs.........
No questions, no issues, no moaning from the recovery driver about the distance,
Simple as that.........

Yup got 2 of the highway officers within ten mins of each other both took me number to ring me in 30 mins if i wasnt of the shoulder...

How come that their first question is always"do you have relay sir".This means that if your answers yes there's no way I'm gona try and fix it cos I may get dirty I'll call a tow truck.Gone are the days when they would almost rebuild your engine at the side of the road and be happy to help. :evil: Pete

I have mentioned this before, but I broke down in France and my recovery (ADAC) towed the car to a local garage, put my family and I up in a hotel for 2 nights and then flew us home (to Germany). They then towed the car home too. All this for about €70. Thats about £50 a year!
No complaints and a really cracking service!
Recommend them to all.

I split a rad hose earlier this year and the RR dumped its coolant all over the A1 on my very first laning trip :oops: - the car spent the day on the pub car park.
When we came back for it at the end of the day, we rang the RAC and explained what had happened, they said the car was undriveable and they would get it home. A van turned up after about ten minutes, the driver did't even get out - he knew full well that there was nothing he could do to fix it and he would have to call out a flatbed. We eventually got home about three hours later, and nearly missed the pizzeria. It was all down to politics - if the call centre called out the flatbed, it would go down as a black mark against them, so they fob off the black mark on to the van.
I'm now with Caravan Club Mayday (Green Flag - but they say there is no length or weight limit on the caravan as opposed to ordinary Green Flag) - so far I haven't had to test their competence ... :(scared):
(Watch it go and break down next time out now I've said that!)

I'm with the AA. Recently at the hight of the holiday season I was with my Son Jack and one of the injector pipe unions cracked (90TD). This eventually led to air in the system and a complete dead stop.
I called the AA told them the problem and waited for the relay. Jack and I had some lunch and played 'Dopey Baby' )He jumps off something I catch him and put him back on and shout dopey baby and he jumps off again). We had some lunch and Jack did a nappy. I had just finished it and the AA man turned up.
Had a look got a hack saw out cut the end off the pipe, put an new union & olive on the pipe and off we went - Off I went back to the trial.
