Very nice noise indeed, we still get them around now and again being right on the edge of Rolls Royce's Hucknall airfield, with Rolls's own spit and also they come into here for testing too   :)

Did it have a griffin of a merlin engine? can't beat the noise off the supercharger as they go straight overhead.

Nice one, i am lucky when it comes to Spitfires, a friend of mine in Newton St Cyres is building one, been on telly a couple of times with it, and we have made some bits for it with the Laser profiler.
And just a few miles up the road in a converted pig shed, is Mr Cutler, who is the centre of the universe for Merlin engines, you hear them testing them sometimes if you are in the area.
Martin whos building his own, has now got is pilots licence i believe, as he intends flying it himself, which considering it will be worth £1,000,000 + when finished takes some balls.

Did you know an American company is offering kits (http://www.spitfireaircraftco.com/)??
(minus a Merlin & other bits)

I'm no expert when it come to which engine it had but it sounded fantastic, it was one of the few 2 seater Spitfires still flying, thats what I'm told, I'm sure soem one out there knows better than me, it came from Duxford,,

The guy who held the pary has also bought a flight in it  8)

We discovered on the last day of our holiday that there was an air show over the Bristol Channel, based at Weston super Mare.  Red Arrows, Black Cats, BOB Memorial Flight (minus Lancaster - it was poorly), Blue Eagles, topped off with the Red Devils, and if RRB sees this then I'm sure he will fill in the ones I've forgotten!  The batteries packed up on the camera after the Red Arrows    and the spares were in the car

It was a fantastic, FOC display which lasted for over two hours, and the commentary point was able to link up with the cockpit radios (or so we were led to believe) with instructions such as 'Nose-over, nose-over - Go!' as the two Lynx helicopters dipped their noses together to take a bow.

In addition to the Hurricane, there were two Spitfires, one of which actually fought in the Battle of Britain, and the other was one of the later ones which only saw the end of the war.  Rather than doing a fly-past and not seeing them again, they were over the town for about ten minutes performing general aerobatics and slow Victory rolls and generally enjoying the day.
