Why wouldn't you be able to? (knows nothing about spots :D)

Would be interested to know one way or the other as well, as I'm looking at a set of Dayliters myself.

You get what you pay for - there's a good reason why Ring stuff is £20 a pair compared to £180 for each ;)

I've got a pair of Procomp (http://www.explorerprocomp.co.uk/acatalog/LightsAccesories_LightsSwitches.html) Stainless spots on the Disco. Very similar to the KC's.
Very bright and, being stainless, they stand upto the salt air up here.  :D

I have these hanging from the A-bar and not had any problems with them in this position.

For the money the rings i have do a fair job mounted really not for distance, just to give a good spread at the front. Yes they are cheap and slightly tacky. for 16 quid a set i'm not complaining.
Ok money no object there is some nice IPF's out there.

As we are talking about spots. Has anybody heard of Bosch spotlamps? I can't find owt on the net about them. I found them for 50p each at a local boot sale and distance wise they are good.
Ok I have had a look on the net a bit more and they are known as touring 140's with a max beam length of 240M! and a Australian 4x4 store is selling them at 129 dollars a pair!

But one has taken to falling out of it's holder so i'm looking for a replacement, so any ideas on the best Bargain replacement. Idealy looking for a good distance lamp for road work and running around 55 Watts any more else and it's alternator cooking time.

edit to add more info on the lights.

That's something I hadnt thought about - what's the alternator output at idle for example (Defender 110 TD5)? (I know it varies with the rpm right?)

No point in putting loads of candlepower on the truck if you can only turn on one at once :D

I thought about this i run a 100 amp alternator with 2 optima's as main vehicle battery's and a 110amp leisure for the night heater etc... :D oh and at tick over it just cope's!!!

i have a 65 amp alternater of a disco & a 100amp jelly battery & it copes with having the rooflights on & winching just kinda   can here the engine note changing at tickover if i switch all the lights on

Talking of alternators & lights, was told that a guy on the OBC has set of jumbo landing lights on his truck for the night stages & can only switch them on whilst driving,if he switches them on at idle it stalls

Robin Rymell used to have some DC10 landing lights on his Simmbugghini for the Tunnels stage of the Scottish Hillrally.  They were dead bright, but as he had them mounted behind the windscreen to keep them clean he could only leave them on through the tunnel or they threatened to melt the laminate!
