This is what I'm aiming to do on my grand cherokee.

I'm going to buy another two xbars to mount on the std roof bars then get the rest made up from ali tubing.

Hope this shows up as I can't see it at work.

There lovely!
They look like old Army torches

I might have to invest in a couple of pairs of those.

I knew these had been discussed before - http://forums.mud-club.com/viewtopic.php?t=26586

That reminds me while we're discussing things like this, must keep a look out for a chocolate fireguard now we're on our way to winter.

Hmmm after looking at the output diagram in the other thread the drop off of ilumination on those is terrible...hmmm

Shame they don't do them in black.  And at a fraction of the cost.

Surely the drop-off is the same with any kind of bulb, assuming roughly similar light colour.  Different types of light don't suddenly attenuate at different rates.  Light's the same whatever the source, so if you get two bulbs with the same lux output over the same angle at 1m, they're going to have the same relative output at 2m and 5m etc.

Thats correct, light is subject to the inverse square law (did I just say that?).  What this means that at double the distance from source light travels, you only get 1/4 of the intensity!

I knew that photographic course would come in handy elsewhere!
